A team comprising 10 members from the National Viral Hepatitis Control Program (NVHCP) under the National Health Mission, led by NVHCP deputy commissioner Dr. Sandhya Kabra, visited every district in Nagaland to address the states escalating hepatitis cases from August 21 to August 25.

The teams visit was intended to aid in the growth and development of the NVHCP in Nagaland. According to a formal statement released on Friday, the state and the Center have a significant obligation to handle the problem with great care to reduce the fatal effects of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma in light of the SDG aim of eradicating hepatitis by 2030. This is due to the growing threat of hepatitis C cases, particularly among high-risk groups in addition to hepatitis B morbidity. (Times of India, Aug 27, 2022)
